By machining the top of the plastic roller housing, you eliminate the support where the rollers push against the cage. When subjected to abuse, this cage which is made of phenolic plastic will buckle and the roller clutch will explode. When this happens the entire gear train is usually destroyed and a whole new core is needed to rebuild the transmission. If the factory dog bone fails, there is no other damage caused to the geartrain as they simply flip and will not apply versus an explosion on the aftermarket designs. To sum it up, you’re better off leaving a stock dog bone sprag in the unit versus installing one of these aftermarket “upgraded” designs. You ask, how do we know all of this? We used to use this part ourselves and have seen what happens.
