The Diode Dynamics SS5 LED Pod is engineered for drivers who need maximum output from a compact auxiliary light. Built around Diode Dynamics' precision-engineered TIR optics, the SS5 concentrates more usable light where drivers need it most while maintaining a rugged 5-inch aluminum housing.
One of the SS5's standout features is Diode Dynamics' CrossLink technology, which allows multiple pods to be connected together to create a custom light bar. Using a single-piece CNC-machined aluminum linking system, up to eight SS5 pods can be joined in straight or curved configurations while maintaining excellent rigidity and adjustability. Because every SS5 includes built-in threaded mounting points, no special linking version is required.

Available Beam Patterns
The SS5 is available with several optic configurations designed for different driving environments and lighting requirements.
Driving Pattern
The Driving optic produces a focused 30° x 20° beam pattern that provides excellent long-range visibility while maintaining enough width to illuminate the road ahead. Unlike traditional spotlights, this pattern balances distance and usable roadway coverage for higher-speed driving.
Combo Pattern
The Combo optic combines Driving and Flood technology into a single light. A focused center section projects light downrange while surrounding flood optics create a broader 70° x 30° spread for all-around visibility.
Flood Pattern
The Flood optic produces a wide 70° x 55° beam pattern designed for low-speed driving, worksite illumination, trailers, and off-road applications. Specialized pillow optics provide even light distribution throughout the beam pattern.
Spot Pattern
The Spot optic utilizes the raw TIR optic to create a highly focused 15-degree beam pattern capable of projecting light long distances. The SS5 Sport Spot produces up to 406,000 candela, providing visibility approaching one mile at 0.25 lux.
Note: The Pro Spot version uses a larger LED emitter that creates a wider 20-degree beam pattern. While overall output increases, beam intensity is slightly reduced due to the larger spread.
Color Options
SS5 LED Pods are available in two output colors:
- Cool White (6000K) – Matches most factory LED lighting and provides crisp, high-output illumination.
- Selective Yellow (3000K) – Improves contrast in rain, fog, snow, and dusty conditions while providing a distinctive appearance.
Replacement lenses are also available, allowing you to change beam patterns or output colors without replacing the entire pod.
Durability & Testing
Stage Series lighting is designed for demanding environments and undergoes extensive durability testing before release.
