Hydra Chip for 1994-2003 Ford 7.3L Power Stroke

The PHP Hydra Chip gives 1994-2003 Ford 7.3L Power Stroke owners flexible control over their truck's tuning. Instead of being locked into one fixed tune, the Hydra Chip allows you to load multiple calibrations and switch between them based on how the truck is being used.

Each chip includes access to a library of calibrations for stock trucks through HydraFlash software. You can load tow, daily driving, economy, performance, high idle, valet, anti-theft, and other available calibrations without sending the chip out for reprogramming.

Programmable Multi-Position Tuning

The Hydra Chip includes 17 total positions. Two positions are built in: Module Bypass [00] and No Start [nS]. The remaining 15 positions can be loaded with calibrations from the available database, custom tunes from your preferred tuner, or files developed through Minotaur software.

Available Calibration Types

HydraFlash provides access to a wide range of calibration types for stock trucks. Actual availability depends on model year, injector size, transmission, and PCM strategy.

  • Stock Calibration: Factory-style calibration with no performance increase.
  • Modified Stock: Useful for diagnostic or emissions-related situations.
  • Tow Tunes: Available in multiple levels for extremely heavy, heavy, moderate, and light towing.
  • Daily Driver Tunes: Balanced calibrations for drivability, power, and fuel economy.
  • Fuel Economy Tunes: Designed to encourage earlier shifting and lower RPM operation.
  • Performance Tunes: More aggressive calibrations for improved throttle response and power.
  • Race Tunes: Aggressive fuel curves for stronger low-RPM response and top-end power.
  • High Idle: Useful for PTO operation, warm-up, or stationary use.
  • Anti-Theft: Allows the truck to idle while preventing normal drivability.
  • Whisper Mode: Reduces engine noise for drive-thru, banking, or similar situations.
  • Valet Mode: Limits vehicle speed for controlled use.
  • Teen Driver Mode: Locks speed limiter settings for added control.

  • 65 HP, 80 HP, and 100 HP Performance
  • 100 HP and 120 HP Race
  • 140 HP Extreme, where applicable

Important Calibration Notes

Calibration availability varies by truck. Earlier 7.3L Power Stroke trucks have smaller factory injectors than later Super Duty models, so available power levels may be more limited.

  • 1994-1997 trucks are generally limited to lower horsepower calibrations due to factory injector size.
  • Early 1999 trucks may have more available power levels than 1994-1997 trucks, but fewer than later Super Duty models.
  • Late 1999-2003 trucks typically have the broadest stock-injector calibration selection.
  • Manual transmission trucks may have fewer calibration options due to differences in shift-related programming.
  • The 140 HP Extreme tune is not recommended for late 2001-2003 trucks with stock injectors and powdered metal connecting rods.

When Custom Tuning Is Recommended

Custom calibrations are recommended when the truck has modifications that go beyond a basic stock setup. These combinations often require tuning tailored to the vehicle instead of using standard canned calibrations.
