The 2011-2026 Ford Super Duty 6.7L Powerstroke is one of the best work truck and diesel performance platforms on the market — but stock 6.7L air-to-water intercoolers are prone to leaking internally due to elevated boost levels, factory assembly defects, or just normal use over time. Knowing this, SPE set out to address the problem and do it better than the competition. The SPE Booklung Billet Intercooler is by far the toughest and largest intercooler available for the platform.

The intercooler core (dubbed "The Booklung") is custom-designed by SPE specifically for the 6.7L Powerstroke around the actual 110°F operating temperatures of the secondary cooling system — not the 30-45°F ice water most off-the-shelf cores are designed for, which just doesn't perform on this platform. SPE went further by replacing cast or sheet-metal end tanks with thick billet aluminum end tanks for strength and durability, and sized the assembly to take maximum advantage of available engine bay space.

Real-world dyno testing showed the Booklung produces 35% more airflow than the factory unit, picked up 130 lb-ft additional torque on a test-bed truck without other modifications, dropped EGTs up to 200°F, and cut pressure drop across the core by over half (from 5 PSI to 1.5 PSI). The core is rated and tested to over 150 PSI for extreme boost applications, and can be run with ice water in racing setups. 2017+ applications require an 11-16 style cold side or piping kit for installation.
