The SPE Motorsport Low Temp, High Flow Thermostat is an engineered solution for the chronic high fluid temperature problem on the 6.7L Powerstroke. After extensive testing on the 6.7L application, SPE developed a thermostat that opens at 175/180°F — a significant 19-21 degree drop from the OEM unit which doesn't crack open until 194/201°F. The result is dramatically lower coolant, oil, and transmission temperatures during normal driving, towing, and severe-duty operation.
Real-world testing shows up to 30°F temperature drops across the cooling system. Engine oil temperatures under severe driving conditions average 215-235°F with the SPE thermostat versus 240-260°F with the factory unit — that's the difference between healthy oil life and accelerated breakdown. On 2017-2019 Powerstrokes, the primary cooling system also cools the transmission, so the SPE thermostat doubles as a transmission cooling upgrade. Installation takes 15 minutes with hand tools.

Notes:
*2017-2019 Powerstrokes use the primary cooling system to cool the transmission unlike the 2011-2016 which uses the secondary cooling system.
