The factory CP4 pump on the 6.7 Powerstroke has a reputation — and not a good one. The SPE Motorsport CP3 Conversion Kit was built from the ground up to eliminate those issues while keeping vital engine systems operational. Unlike other alternative pump setups, this conversion doesn't suffer from timing issues or excessive load on the crank gear — meaning less stress, fewer headaches, and better long-term durability for hard-use applications. The last thing you want is catastrophic engine failure from a crank gear slipping under pump load — that cost makes a fuel system replacement seem cheap.
SPE re-engineered the fuel system by moving the load to the snout of the crankshaft (no longer driven by an interference fit timing gear) and relocating the pump out of the valley to drive it via a proper-ratio pulley and serpentine belt. PTO pumps, compressors, and auxiliary fuel pumps have been driven by serpentine belts on diesel engines for decades — millions of miles of proven reliability across the industry. Pump access and serviceability are dramatically improved, and install time is cut significantly.
The real win: this is a 100% factory replacement system. No tuning required. Thanks to the optimized drive ratio, a standard CP3 pump moves the same volume as modified pumps costing twice as much. The kit comes with a brand new Exergy Performance CP3, and unlike other alternative pumps on the market, replacement CP3 pumps are available virtually anywhere — dealerships, warehouse suppliers, or local diesel shops.
