GDP Portals Will Revamp Your Ride If you’re looking for a way to completely redefine your Can-Am Defender, SuperATV’s GDP 4" Portal Gear Lift is the answer. Choose between a 15% or 30% gear reduction, and add a dual idler gear for added strength. GDP portals are built to deliver better performance on the trail, in mud, and in wide-open riding conditions.

What is a Dual Idler? A second idler gear inside the portal box spreads the load over twice as much surface area for more reliable torque transfer and stronger gearing. Precision CNC grinding helps ensure the gears are perfectly mated, and the gears are made from 9310 steel alloy for durability.

A Gear Reduction That Protects Your Drivetrain By placing the gear reduction in the hub after the transmission, prop shaft, differential, and axles, portals reduce stress on your drivetrain while helping your most vital components last longer.

Strength and Construction GDP portals are available with cast or billet aluminum housings and 5/16" thick backing plates made from an advanced steel alloy. They also feature a 1.5 in. diameter 4340 hardened steel drive shaft, advanced gaskets or O-rings, a sealed input gear, double-lipped output seal, double-angular contact output bearings, and roller idler and drive bearings for smooth operation and strong gear meshing.

Complete the Package with a Frame Stiffener Portals and monster tires can place additional stress on your machine’s frame. For a more bulletproof suspension setup, SuperATV recommends adding a frame stiffener during installation.

Max Tire Size Recommendations for 4" Portal Gear Lift

  • 26" max tire size with stock suspension
  • 27" max tire size with a 3" lift kit
  • 28" to 34" max tire size with 2" forward offset A-arms
  • 28" to 38" max tire size with a 6" lift kit

Wheel Requirements

  • 14" or larger wheel required
  • Wheels cannot exceed 4-1/2" backspacing
  • Not compatible with dual beadlock wheels
  • Wheels need to have a center hole of at least 3.25" (82.55mm) or require a 1" wheel spacer
