Create the Ultimate Defender HD8 with GDP Portals
Your Can-Am Defender HD8 isn’t a powerhouse until it has SuperATV’s 6" Portal Gear Lift installed. You’ll get 6" of lift and a gear reduction in one package, giving you more torque and the ability to run bigger tires without stressing your Defender. Choose between 30%, 45%, or 60% gear reduction to match your riding style. For maximum durability, upgrade from cast housing to billet aluminum housing. Dual idler portals are also available for even more power.
What is a Dual Idler?
After years of research and development, SuperATV’s dual idler gear portals use a second idler gear in the portal box to spread the load over twice as much surface area for more reliable torque transfer and a stronger gear set. Precision CNC grinding ensures the gears are perfectly matched, and the gears are made from 9310 steel alloy.
Get the Power to Conquer Any Terrain
A gear reduction changes how your ride performs on different terrain. Choose 30% for faster speeds with plenty of torque. If you run larger tires and tackle tough trails, go with 45% for extra power and control. For the ultimate mud setup, choose 60% gear reduction and maximize torque with dual idler gears.
Protect Your Drivetrain
GDP Portals relocate the gear reduction to the wheel hubs instead of the transmission. This reduces stress on your Defender HD8’s drivetrain, helping your axles, driveshaft, differential, and transmission work less to reduce wear and help prevent costly repairs.
Unmatched Strength
GDP Portals are available with your choice of cast or billet aluminum housing and heavy-duty 5/16" backing plates made from advanced steel alloy. They’re built to handle abuse and backed by a lifetime warranty.

Don’t Forget a Frame Stiffener
Monster tires and portals bring the fun, but they also stress your machine’s frame. Reinforce your suspension with a SuperATV Frame Stiffener for added durability.
