Turn your Can-Am Defender HD9 into a powerhouse with GDP Portals. This 6" Portal Gear Lift adds 6" of lift and built-in gear reduction for improved torque, better ground clearance, and the ability to run larger tires safely. Choose 30%, 45%, or 60% gear reduction to match your terrain, and upgrade from cast to billet aluminum housing for extra strength.

Dual idler strengthSuperATV’s dual idler design uses a second idler gear in the portal box to spread load over twice as much surface area for more reliable torque transfer and a stronger gear set. The gears are precision CNC ground and made from 9310 steel alloy for a precise, durable mesh.

Why choose portal gear reduction?With the gear reduction in the wheel hubs instead of inside the transmission, your Defender HD9’s drivetrain takes less strain. Axles, driveshaft, differential, and transmission all work easier, helping reduce wear and avoid expensive repairs.

Built for strength and reliabilityThese GDP Portals are built tough with cast or billet aluminum housings and 5/16" backing plates made from advanced steel alloy. The housings are reinforced for gear retention and optimized for oil flow. Advanced gaskets, O-rings, seals, and bearings help keep oil where it belongs and support long-lasting performance.

6" Portal Gear Lift includes:

  • (4) Assembled portal hub boxes complete with 9310 gears, seals, output shaft, gaskets, and thrust bearings
  • (4) Universal hubs and precision-ground stainless steel slotted rotors with lugs
  • (4) Specialized steel alloy backing plates
  • (4) Steel caliper mounting plates
  • (6) Brake caliper mounts
  • (2) Steel steering arms
  • Extended brake lines with parking brake and brake cable brackets
  • All required hardware including recessed castle nut socket

Max tire size recommendations for 6" Portal Gear Lift:

  • 34" tires: requires 2" Forward Offset A-Arms
  • 39" tires: 6" Lift Kit strongly recommended

Max tire sizes are measured at full compression and full turn. The listed sizes are the largest tires that fit without rubbing. With minor trimming or a small amount of rub, larger tire sizes can be used. If you need help choosing the right gear reduction, use the portal gear reduction calculator.

Wheel requirements:

  • 18" or larger wheel required
  • 18" wheels cannot exceed 4-1/2" backspacing
  • 20" and larger wheels cannot exceed 5" backspacing
  • Wheels need a center hole of at least 3.25" (82.55mm) or require a 1" wheel spacer

Note: Big Lift Kit or 2" Forward Offset A-Arms strongly recommended.
