With SuperATV’s Gen 3 4" Portal Gear Lift for the Honda Talon 1000R, you can choose the setup that matches your ride style. Select a 30% gear reduction for big tires and more torque, or a 15% reduction for smooth, precise trail riding and higher top speed. You can also choose dual idlers for maximum strength, along with cast or billet aluminum housings.

What Is a Dual Idler?

After years of research and development, SuperATV’s dual idler gear portals use a second idler gear in the portal box to spread the load over twice as much surface area for more reliable torque transfer and a stronger gear set. Precision CNC grinding helps ensure the gears are perfectly mated, and the gears are made from 9310 steel alloy.

Perfect for Any Rider

A 30% gear reduction is ideal for tackling thick mud and getting a torque boost, while a 15% gear reduction gives the fastest lifted Talon setup with punchy power and a higher top speed.

By putting the lift in the hub, portal gear lifts help avoid adding unnecessary stress to your drivetrain so you can ride harder and tackle bigger obstacles.

The Strength You Need

You get a choice of cast or billet aluminum housings with 5/16" advanced alloy backing plates.

  • Housings are reinforced for gear retention and optimized for oil flow
  • Advanced steel alloy backing plates are stronger than chromoly
  • Can be enhanced with Portal Blood gear oil formulated for GDP Portals
  • No vents, because vents do more harm than good

Reinforce Your UTV with a Frame Stiffener

If you add another lift, big tires, and heavy passengers, there’s a chance you could bend your frame. For those builds, a heavy-duty steel frame stiffener is recommended to help keep your Talon strong.

Honda Talon 1000R Portal Gear Reduction Recommendations

  • Max tire size: 37" with stock suspension
  • Max tire size: 38" with a 3" lift kit
  • Max tire sizes are measured at full compression and full turn; larger sizes may fit with minor trimming or a small amount of rub

Wheel Requirements:

  • 14" or larger wheel required
  • Cannot exceed 5" backspacing
  • Not compatible with dual beadlock wheels
  • Wheels need to have a center hole of at least 3.25" (82.55 mm) or require a 1" wheel spacer
