Honda Talon 1000X 8" Portal Gear Lift
Honda’s most fun side-by-side is about to get even better. Put 8" GDP Portals on your Honda Talon 1000X and you open up a whole new world of fun. With a huge increase in ground clearance and a massive 45% or 60% gear reduction, you’ll blaze a new trail and go everywhere your buddies can’t.
GDP is the most trusted name in portals, with thousands of riders choosing GDP portal systems for proven trail performance. These portals are especially effective in mud, giving you extra ground clearance and torque-boosting gear reduction to help you roll over and push through deep mud holes.
A portal gear reduction protects your drivetrain because the reduction happens in the hub instead of in the transmission. That means your axles, differential, prop shaft, and transmission can wear less than stock, even if you ride harder than stock.
Built with precision-ground 9310 alloy steel gears, these portals are designed for smooth, quiet operation. They are available with billet or cast aluminum housings, and both versions use Thermo-Tork® gaskets, rubber O-rings, a sealed input gear, and a double-lipped output seal for reliable sealing.
Additional heavy-duty components include a 1.5 in. diameter 4340 hardened steel driveshaft, specialized steel alloy backing plates, universal hubs, stainless steel slotted rotors, rear bearing carriers, steel caliper mounting plates, and heavy-duty lower ball joints preinstalled. All required hardware is included, along with a recessed castle nut socket.
This 8" portal kit increases width by 4 in. per side and uses 1.5 in. forward and rear offset. It also requires a frame stiffener, which must be selected at checkout.

Wheel Requirements:
- 22" or larger wheel required
- Wheels cannot exceed 5" backspacing
- Wheels need to have a center hole of at least 3.25" (82.55mm) or require a 1" wheel spacer
Honda Talon 1000X Portal Gear Suspension Recommendations
- Max tire size 35" with stock suspension
- Max tire size 35" with a 2" lift kit
- Max tire size 40" with 1.5" forward front A-arms
- Max tire size 40" with 1.5" forward front A-arms and a 2" lift kit
Max tire sizes are measured at full compression and full turn. The given tire sizes are the largest fitment without rubbing. With minor trimming or a small amount of rub, larger tire sizes can be used.
