What is a Dual Idler®?

By placing a second idler gear in the portal box, the load gets spread over twice as much surface area for more reliable torque transfer and a stronger gear set. Precision CNC grinding ensures the gears are mated perfectly, and they’re made from 9310 steel alloy for durability.

Whether you stick to mud, trails, dunes, or all of the above, these portals are built for versatile performance. A smaller 30% reduction is perfect for fast rides with plenty of torque. A 45% reduction lets you run bigger tires and take on bigger rocks. A 60% gear reduction is ideal if you want to build a serious mud machine. You can also choose the dual idler gear configuration for added strength.

The built-in gear reduction in the hub places less stress on your drivetrain, so your axles, prop shaft, differential, and transmission all benefit from reduced strain and longer-lasting components.

Wheel Requirements:

  • 18" or larger wheel required
  • 18" wheels cannot exceed 4-1/2" backspacing
  • 20" and larger wheels cannot exceed 5" backspacing
  • Wheels need to have a center hole of at least 3.25" (82.55mm) or require a 1" wheel spacer
