Upgrade your 1998.5-2023 Dodge Ram 5.9L/6.7L Diesel with the XDP X220 Series Head Stud Kit XD3010HS. When increasing horsepower and torque, the OEM head bolts often can't handle the added pressure, leading to potential cylinder head lifting and head gasket failures. The XDP head studs are designed to keep your cylinder head securely locked down. Constructed from 8740 Chromoly Steel with a proprietary element, these studs are significantly more durable and won't stretch like the factory bolts. The threads are rolled after heat-treatment to provide optimum fatigue strength. With a yield strength of 205,000+ psi and tensile strength of 225,000+ psi, these studs ensure a strong hold under higher combustion pressures.
Replacing head bolts with studs not only increases strength but also allows for more precise torque readings. Conventional bolts twist when tightened, reacting to multiple forces, whereas head studs apply force along the vertical axis, resulting in a more even clamping force. This ensures proper alignment of the cylinder heads and simplifies engine assembly. Unlike the OEM Torque-To-Yield (TTY) bolts, which must be replaced after each use, these head studs are reusable, making them ideal for high-performance applications. Manufactured in an ISO/TS 16949 quality control facility, this kit includes 12-point nuts, washers, and installation instructions for hassle-free installation. Assembly lubricant is sold separately.
